Sacred Chocolate Comments on CACAOGATE! #FB

February 25, 2010

As Director of Sales at Sacred Chocolate I want to apologize to our fans for any of these products that made it into a Sacred Chocolate Heart. The truth is that in making Sacred Chocolate, Sacred Steve often adds extra cacao butter. This is not unusual and part of the process of making great raw chocolate. However, we do not use cacao powder in our chocolate. Sacred Chocolate is made from raw, organic whole cacao nibs and beans with the skin included. These nibs and beans are truly raw and make up the bulk of our product. We are unique in slowly stone grinding the raw nibs and beans with the skin, and this allows us to have great chocolate and control of our process.

We support the formation of standards in the industry strongly and will be happy to meet those guidelines when widely accepted. Until then we feel that the standards of our founders, Sacred Steve and David Wolfe, continue to guide us to a high level of raw consciousness. I am not sure what should convince us that Big Tree Farms has actually created a raw product. We will take that at face value and be happy to participate in the contest, but long term, is this the answer to raw cacao on a large scale? It seems like the claims of one far off supplier do not really help all potential manufacturers of raw chocolate.

Here, at Sacred Chocolate, we will continue to work hard to make raw chocolate real. In this ongoing endeavor we are investing in the equipment necessary to make real raw cacao butter and raw cacao powder at Sacred Chocolate world headquarters.
